The new Gary LeVox One On One EP is out and available for streaming on your favorite media player! As a Rascall Flatts fan I was super excited to get early access to this new EP. And, it’s amazing! I’ve had it on repeat for days…

His name is synonymous with vocal power. … Literally, it means “The Voice,” and it only takes a few notes to hear where he got it. But for Rascal Flatts’ Gary LeVox, there’s always been a different, higher power at work.

Now withONE ON ONE, a solo debut fusing two of his biggest passions–music and faith–that higher power takes center stage. Arriving May 21 via Big Machine Records, LeVox’s new chapter kicks off with five soul-mining anthems and the resilient single, “The Distance.” And according to him, the timing is perfect.

After 20 years as front man to one of the most influential groups in Country history, Rascal Flatts’ Gary LeVox is embarking on a solo chapter that combines two of his biggest passions – music and faith. With his debut song, “The Distance,” the Ohio native unveils the empowering first taste of that mission, delivering an epic expression of the power of belief that’s tailor made for the COVID19 era. Grounded in the Flatts legacy, but clearly existing on a different sonic plane, the track features an exhilarating mix of LeVox’s stratospheric vocals and high energy instrumentation, encouraging fans of both Country and contemporary Christian music to never give up and it’s a message he knows by heart. Along with bandmates Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney, LeVox founded Rascal Flatts in 2000, and they went on to enjoy one of the most successful careers in modern Country music. Infusing the genre’s traditional sound with massive pop hooks, rock showmanship and faithful positivity, they scored 17 No. 1 singles and sold over 23 million albums, while also selling more than 11 million concert tickets and earning 40+ awards show trophies making them the most awarded Country group of the last decade. The group celebrated its farewell with TWENTY YEARS OF RASCAL FLATTS: THE GREATEST HITS in 2020, and LeVox will continue to pursue a career as a solo artist with the five track collection ONE ON ONE, released May 21 via Big Machine Records.

“One On One is my passion project and I have wanted to do this body of work for as long as I can remember,” explains LeVox. “I feel so honored to get to collaborate with such greatness throughout this project. BRELAND is a dream to work and sing with, as is the iconicMercyMe. Jonathon McReynolds, one of the greatest singers of our time and my dear friend, wrote a perfect song for us. And for my daughter Brittany and I to get to sing a song that Tauren Wells help craft just completed the collection. I couldn’t be prouder of this project, and the songs that we recorded. This is gonna be an amazing new season and I just hope everybody enjoys it as much as we did making it.

About the Music – Thanks to FlyBy for this great CD to review. I love music and have always enjoyed Chris Tomlin so I was super excited to have the opportunity to review Chris Tomlin’s latest CD.

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying Holy Roar by Chris Tomlin. Just reading the song list makes me excited! “Resurrection Power”, “Satisfied”, “Praise Him Forever”, “I Stand in Awe”, and many more. The songs are beautiful, and even my kids are loving singing along. The freedom, the experience, the wonder of worship. It is seeing the church come together, hands lifted to God, pouring out our praise with an eternal song in our hearts. It’s every voice together, changing the way we worship.

Jeremy Camp – The Answer – Review and Giveaway

I received this CD free for purposes of my review. All opinions are my own.

Jeremy Camp – The Answer

I love “Word of Life” by Jeremy Camp so I was super excited to review his new CD. Word of Life is the cover song for this CD, so I figured I would probably like the rest of the CD as well.

I love how his music is upbeat and fun to listen to and sing along with. With songs like “My Father’s Arms” and “Love so Great”, this CD is full of great music that me and my kids have been enjoying.

My 4yr old son is excited to have a new CD with a male singer. He has two older sisters who prefer female musicians because they’re easier for them to sing along with. I told him that the CD is his and he listens to it as much as he can. He’s so excited to have his own CD and I love that he has some new music that’s not only fun and child appropriate but that also has a great message.

And check out Jeremy Camp’s music video for Word of Life. It’s so much fun!

And, thanks to FlyBy I get to give away one copy of this new CD. It was released today, Oct. 6th so it’s super new! Enter below for a chance to win.

Matt Redman – Glory Song – Review and Giveaway

I received this CD free for purposes of my review. All opinions are my own.

Matt Redman – Glory Song

My 4yr old son was so excited to get a CD with a boy singer, as he puts it. I like Matt Redman so I was excited about reviewing this CD.

Matt Redman teamed up with several of his worship-artist friends for this album, first releasing the track “Gracefully Broken (feat. Tasha Cobbs Leonard).” Tasha Cobbs Leonard also released her own version of this song on the same day!

The album also features Kierra Sheard, Guvna B, Madison Cunningham, and Kim Walker-Smith.

I put this in the car and we’re all enjoying listening to it while we run errands, drop off kids, pick up kids, etc. It’s so much fun to have new music that everyone likes. The music on this CD is upbeat but not too loud and really a great CD for in the car. My favorite song one “Greatest Hallelujah” the music and the words just go together so well in this song!

And Gracefully Broken with Tasha Cobbs Leonard is just beautiful!

You can download the music from iTunes.

Review – Nichole Nordeman: Every Mile Mattered CD

I received this CD free for purposes of my review. All opinions are my own.

Nichole Nordeman: Every Mile Mattered CD – I’m constantly looking for new music for me to enjoy and my children love it when I get a new CD to try out. So, we put this one in the car and have been enjoying it this past week while we run errands and such around town.

I somehow had never heard of Nichole Nordeman before this review opportunity – not sure how that’s possible since we listen to a LOT of Christian music in my house and this is her 5th CD!

First off, I’m excited to discover a new artist. She has a great voice and we’ve really enjoyed her latest CD. The music on this CD is soft, gentle, and thought provoking. She sings about her life journey and how Every Mile Mattered. Such a good reminder of how God cares about everything in our life.

Laura Story – Open Hands – Review & Giveaway

IMG_20170311_121305813I’m constantly on the lookout for new music for me and for my kids. So, I was excited when I got to review Laura Story‘s newest CD, Open Hands for free. I love Laura Story’s music and this CD was no exception.

The music is beautiful and relaxing. Both me and my children love listening to it. It’s the perfect music for listening to any time.

OpenArms

Throughout the Bible, there are countless stories of ordinary people whole-heartedly attempting to live a life fully surrendered to God’s unique calling on their lives. More than once, God asks people of faith to relinquish control and simply trust Him.

“We have this picture all the way through the Scriptures of all these great leaders in this process of surrendering everything. What the Lord is asking them is not, ‘You need to hold on tighter. You need to manage this better.’ What the Lord asks us is to surrender,” Laura offers, “It’s about learning to live with open hands, learning to live life in this constant state of saying, ‘Lord, my life is Yours. My time is Yours. My resources are Yours. All of this is Yours. Do what You will.’”

Story has built a life—and a career—around submission to her calling. She’s led worship at Atlanta’s Perimeter Church for the past 12 years. In addition to penning songs recorded by artists like Chris Tomlin, Story has found success as a recording artist in her own right. Since the release of her solo debut in 2008, Story has amassed a GRAMMY® Award, a Billboard Music Award, multiple GMA Dove Awards and an RIAA Gold certification for her massive No. 1 hit “Blessings.” In addition, she’s also the author of two books, including the latest “When God Doesn’t Fix It – Lessons You Never Wanted to Learn, Truths You Can’t Live Without.”

Open Hands is the follow-up to 2013’s critically-acclaimed God of Every Story, and in the years that have passed since her last release, Story has given birth to twins, making their brood a family of five. Now, as a mom to three kids—Josie, Benjamin and Griffin—the posture of “open hands” feels more necessary than ever before as she juggles ministry and motherhood.

Hand

“We never get to a point where we can do life apart from complete and total daily dependence on Jesus,” Story admits. “The irony is the less control we have, the more peace we have and the more, I would even say, success and joy we find. It’s a contrary picture to what the world tells us, but it’s gaining through letting go.”

Open Hands’ fresh collection of originals blends Story’s signature congregational worship with intimate moments. A parade of A-list songwriters, including Matt Redman, Matt Maher, Mia Fieldes, Hank Bentley, Sarah Hart and Seth Mosley, among others, pepper the album’s 11 tracks.

The title track—already a chart-topper prior to the album’s release—features guest vocals from Third Day’s Mac Powell, a fellow Atlanta-native and Story’s longtime friend. “You Came Running” borrows imagery from the biblical narrative of the Prodigal Son. In true Story fashion, several selections (“Awake My Soul (1000 Tongues),” “For The Love of My King”) reimagine timeless hymns, which she refreshes with an original chorus.

Reflecting on the world her kids are growing up in, Story wrote the album’s sparse closer, “Grace Abounds,” after weeks of turning on the television only to continue to watch stories of terror attacks, extreme injustice and racial tension make headlines day after day. “It’s easy to lose heart, and the song is about just acknowledging the brokenness. First of all, we can’t just pretend like it doesn’t exist,” she advises. “When it seemingly doesn’t make sense, I’m choosing to believe that God’s grace is enough. God’s grace is enough for any social injustice. God’s grace is enough for any loss that we go through. God’s grace is enough for any loneliness that we experience, for any relational strain and for any relational rejection.

Laura

“When it feels like hope can’t be found, when we don’t even know how we’re going to put one foot in front of the other,” she continues, “Scripture teaches us that’s when grace abounds.”

“Worship at the very core of what it is is ‘worth-ship.’ It’s the easiest definition I’ve ever heard of worship. It’s giving God worth, and sometimes that means verbal adoration and praise. Sometimes that’s showing Him worth with our calendars and our checking accounts. No matter what it is, it always begins with open hands. It always begins with a willingness to say, ‘You are worth whatever cost you call me to give,’” she maintains. “Worship in its very core begins with surrender. That’s how we really show God that He’s worth it all.”

Amy Grant, Tennessee Christmas – giveaway

agcoverAmy Grant Tennessee Christmas CD – I got this CD the other day and have been playing it on repeat ever since. The kids gave up on stealing it from me and resorted to asking our Amazon Echo to play “Amy Grant” songs.

I did finally relent and tell them that they can have it to listen to when they go to bed this evening. Though, I know it’s highly unlikely they’ll return it to me before Christmas.

I’m just loving the songs on this CD! Since I live in Tennessee, the first song, Tennessee Christmas is especially sweet. And especially meaningful today as we watch the news reports of all the fires in Tennessee this week. People around here are really hoping for rain, and would be overjoyed to get snow. Because, really, it’s hard to beat Christmas in Tennessee!

Even if you’re not in Tennessee you’ll still love this CD, it has some great Christmas classics like White Christmas and Joy To the World and some lesser known songs like Christmas for You and Me. There’s isn’t a song on this CD that I don’t like. They’re all beautiful.

Check out this YouTube of “To Be Together” from the Amy Grant Tennessee Christmas CD.

Also, Amy Grant is looking for fans to upload any videos of you surprising loved ones for the holidays. Post to your social media with hashtag #TNChristmasSurprise! They’re making a compilation video and posting it to Amy’s socials. So, post your favorite for a chance to be included.

The Giveaway winner will receive a physical CD copy of this album. It is also available for purchase and download on itunes.

10 Things I Love

My August Blog Prompt is 10 Things I Love. It’s a great way to start out the month, right before school starts up again and I get busy teaching and keeping up with the kid’s lessons and such.

I’m going to be doing a weekly post on Homeschooling on Mondays throughout the school year, so come back next week to see what we’re up to!

Now, for 10 things that I like…

1. Music – I love listening to music, but mostly I love playing. I started piano when I was 5 and as an adult I continue to enjoy it.

2. Cordless Dust Buster Hand Vac – This thing has saved my life (actually, it’s more likely saved my kid’s lives) countless times. I can’t live without it! An entire poptart crumbled on the couch? No problem! The 2yr old just dumped the entire potted plant on the floor? A big problem! But not nearly as bad as it could be (he could have broken the pot). Seriously though, I did use my dustbuster for this because I don’t have a shopvac.

My dustbuster lives in it’s charger on my counter and gets used a lot!

3. A Good Book – Some of my favorite authors are James Fenmore Cooper, Charles Dickens, and Jessee Stuart. I enjoy the classics and occasionally a new book or two. Reading is a time to grab a drink and relax.

I recently reviewed Shadow of the Mountain: Exodus and really enjoyed it. I’m also amazed by how much easier it is to read a book I’m reviewing. I guess I justify the time spent more easily because I have a deadline.

4. Coffee – Speaking of drinks. I love coffee. I like the taste, and it’s my preferred way to wake up in the morning. A cup of coffee and my Bible Study. Of course, the kid’s don’t believe in sleeping in so I have to add getting breakfast and hot chocolates and tea to that list in the morning.

5. BBQ Ribs – The best I’ve ever had are from this local place called Dead End BBQ. Their ribs are soooo good! They also have great brisket and delicious sides. And I have no idea about the desserts because I’m always too stuffed to try any!

6. Sewing – I don’t do as much as I would like to because the kids keep me busy, but sewing is a fun, creative outlet for me. I’m working on a few things for the girls right now and they’re so excited.

7. Caramel Bugles – Seriously, the best thing since sliced bread. It’s like caramel corn, without the kernels. I actually hide this from the kids and then my husband will eat an entire bag! It’s delicious. And perfect any time of the year, not just the holidays when I’m craving caramel corn.

Amazon probably isn’t the best place to get these, they’re kind of expensive online. Check the snack aisle in your local grocery store. A few times a year Kroger has them on sale for $1 a bag and I stock up.

8. SciFi – I love SciFi, from the old Star Trek, to Dr. Who, to pretty much anything interesting I find on Netflix. I’m also teaching my kids well, my 6yr old sometimes suggests Star Trek when she’s trying to convince me that we should watch something!

9. Legos – I love legos. Except for when they’re spread all over the floor in the middle of the night. The kids love legos. They have LEGO Friends, LEGO Elves, LEGO Disney Princesses for the girls. My girls love them. And if I don’t feel like actually playing with the legos, they even have Lego XBox 360 games! I have my eyes on this LEGO Jurassic World.

10. Jurassic World – Speaking of which, I loved Jurassic World. I remember watching Jurassic Park as a kid so I had to go see Jurassic World when it came out. It was not disappointed! It’s right up there with Indiana Jones (except for #4, I didn’t like that one) and The Mummy. Just fun to watch!

I’d love to hear some of your favorite things. Comment below and tell me, what’s something you love?
